I received an overload of sms' and mms' and after 40 or so messages I cant even open the application due to the amount of data. I already backed up and restarted the iPhone. I am afraid to reset since it will delete all of the data, is there a way to just delete the messages?

Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart.
Hi, thanks for your advice, but the app still crashes when I try to open it, Ive restarted the device 2 times now, and one being with your suggested method. Is there a way I can view the messages from another device and delete them this way?
