When I go into my general setting I don't have a 'software update' option, so what do I do?

I am trying to update my iPod to 'iOS 5.1' ,but when I go on to my general settings I don't have a 'software update' option. So I don't know how to update my iPod. Please help?

Connect to your computer and use iTunes to upgrade.

Tap Settings > General > Software Update


If an update is available there will be an active Update button. If you are current,

then you will see a gray screen with a message saying your are up to date.


b. If you are still using iOS 4 Updating your device to iOS 5 or later.


c. Resolving update problems
