my iPhone 5 does not show up on 'Devices' in 'Finder'..

It won't. The iPhone does not operate in disk mode.

Disk Mode?
Let me clarify. When I first bought my iPhone 5 and connected it to my MacBook it showed up in Devices in Finder. A few weeks ago, after a software update on my iPhone, it no longer shows up in Devices in Finder. I am unable to sync it with iTunes on my macBook.
the only 2 places my ipod touch's and iphone4 and ipad ever showed up was in itunes and iphoto
the Iphone offers no services which finder could take advantage of
maybe you remember wrong?
Clarification (continued)..
When I first bought my iPhone 5 and connected it to my MacBook it showed up in Devices in Finder. Because the iPhone showed up on Devices in Finder, I was then able to sync to my iTunes (through the MacBook) and download my music from the MacBook to the new iPhone 5.
However, since the upgrade on my iPhone 5 - when I now connect it to my MacBook it no longer shows up in 'Devices' in 'Finder' which means I am unable to sync to my MacBook and therefore unable to sync music from iTunes on my MacBook..
Launch iTunes, go up to "View", select "Show Sidebar". Connect your phone, it will appear in the left device pane. Sync whatever you like.
