I have the iPad Facebook Messenger app....it's stuck. I have tried the previous reply...did not help?

I have a IPad. I downloaded the Facebook messenger app. It worked for a while, but now it's stuck. I've had one reply ..To double click on the home button, which I did . Then I found the messenger icon...and held it down, to erase it. But it didn't work. Any other solutions ....HELP?
