How do I fix a corrupt iCloud account without losing data?

Numbers will not open a new document unless iCloud is turned off. Documents are not syncing. Many are lost. Some contacts and events are not syncing either.

History:

1. MobileMe

2. Multiple iPads, some not upgraded

3. Changed Apple ID (email address) but not on all iCloud settings on all devices for several weeks

4. Could not change iCloud account setting on iPhone until deleted account and re entered

5. All 3 iPads, I II and New, and iPhone 4S all have updated iOS and iWorks software now

I assume that iCloud is corrupt. How can I clean it all without losing data?

I have an open Apple support number, but they have not called back for days.
