After upgrading my OS to the newest one, I have no sound on my iPad at all
iPad 2, iOS 6.1.3
Make sure the mute/lock rotation is configured so it is not on mute.
Also check if it works with it earphones or not
Even with hearphones, there is no sound. The lock button is not on mute and I have rebooted several times. Still no sound. Please help
When exactly is your sound going away games, video, music, specific app.
Maybe you have the sound turned right down. Have you checked the volume buttons on the side of the iPad ?

When I try changing the volume using the sound bar under s sound settings, the sound bar goes back to the left, back to mute. This is after the upgrade
You might need to take it to apple. If it was a game or app it could be a app problem. But if it is not working on the music app then there may be a problem with the hardware. Take it to apple I'm sure they will fix it up.
I guess you've checked under Settings>Music>Volume limit Set it to "Off"
Try this. Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. It will take some time to change all of your device settings back to where they were before you reset the settings.
If that doesn't work, you should probably try restoring the iOS software. If that doesn't work, then it is time for a trip to an Apple Store.
Was having the same issue and noticed that candy crush app was only one that had sound. Deleted candy crush and now I have sound back!
