I cannot sync my itunes videos to my ipad mini

I have just purchased an ipad mini and I cannot sync either music or videos. I know that everything was purchased with the same Apple ID. I was able to restore my new ipad mini with one of the backups from my normal ipad and this worked for apps - but not music or videos. I have taken this to an Apple shop and they tell me to download everything again from icloud - but this is taking forever and i haven't been able to even download a 25 minute episode in 3 days as it keeps dropping out. I have tried 2 different computers, different cables and it won't work. My ipad (normal size) is fine and i can sync everything without a problem.
