iphone dropped in water

Hello,

I dropped my iphone in water and took it out instantly and dried it.

The phone turned on after that and then died after sometime.

I tried to turn it on later after a few hours and this is what happens:

The phone turns on when it is hooked to a wall charger and comes to the configuration screen and asks to connect to iTunes

When i connect it to my laptop, it gets stuck in a loop. It goes to the Apple Screen and then shuts down and repeat.

I showed to it to the tech guy at apple and he says there is liquid inside and i will have to buy a new phone.

Now, i read about the rice trick and since the problem is liquid inside, would drying the phone for 36-48 hrs help?

Has anyone seen a similar issue?

Thanks

iPhone 4, iOS 6

No. That's not what we said. What we're saying is with the phone powered on, and especially with it connected to a charger, you are risking permanent damage to the phone.

You apparently don't want to take our advice regarding shutting it off and leaving it off, so don't be surprised when it catches fire or the battery explodes.
