iPhone 5 ringtone won't change from default
Can anybody help my iphone5 RINGTONES is stuck in default
iPhone 5, iOS 6
Tried completely powering the phone off and back on and then changing it again?

Hi NO IT DIDNT WORK. Yesterday I spent over an hour on telephone to Aaple support. He talk me through so much. We managed to do it. HE SAID it was the software. BUT AFTER. He went off line. I was left to do the rest with it connected to my Pc. Some how I click. ""I think on restore"" and ended up where I was. It had gone back to default again. TOTAL DISPAIR
Donna, where are you changing the default tone?
In Settings > Sounds > Sounds and Vibration Patterns?
I've been in setting. Ringtones. And still it won't change from the default ringtone
I think I will have to go to a APPLE store. Which is so annoying & far away from my town. It's too technical for me to try and resolve myself

Did you try to change it to a new sound then power the phone off and turn back on again?
Yes. I did that a few times. I think it will have to be looked at by the apple factory. The guy did say it had a software fault. UTS DRIVING ME NUTS. Thank you anyway. In total DISPAIR. DONNA x
This is how ive just fixed mine
1. set the ringtone you want for a contact. and save it
2. then click back onto edit then onto ringtone,
When it comes on you'll see the second bubble down says "Default - (your chosen song)" click on this and save!!
3. should be working for all

FANTASTIC! Had to log-in to say this worked and to thank you. but then couldn't find yr post! I have just mentioned it and tried to explain, but is there anyway that yr reply can be highlighted, because it will help so many people? I should add that when I followed the instructions my settings still listed the original default, but when we tested it, it rang with my chosen ringtone!!! Thank you :-)

Delete the contact, and then add them as a new one.
You may want to screenshot it first so you don't miss any info.

Also for OP go to sounds in settings, check at the bottom to make sure change sounds isnt locked if it is unlock and restart phone should play your ringtones.
I can change the ringtone for 1 contact that part works but to change the default for all is not working, there is the word default in behind "opening" but that is the part I cannot change.
