Hi, i am looking at an iphone 4 to buy on ebay. It is the uk (i am in ireland) and the seller says in the phones description that the device doesnt recognize the sim card but somebody told him it would work abroad. I am wondering is this the case and will the phone work abroad, will it work in ireland on an irish sim card network ?

The device could be carrier locked, meaning the SIM is not from the carrier it is locked to.
The SIM reader in the device could be damaged/failed.
The SIM could be bad.
Why take a chance on a device without knowing the specifics of the problem?

Only buy from eBay if you can pick up the iPhone
I would not trust that deal for a second.
Buy from Apple or an Apple authorized source and save yourself the headache of getting ripped off and ending up with a useless device.
