So the iOS 7 update is out. I searched for the update manually on my iphone 5 and found it. I tried to update and right after it starts intializiing update, a pop-up comes up titled 'Software Update Failed'; An error occured downloading iOS 7.0. It gives me the option to close or go to settings which does nothing.
I tried finding the update on itunes on my PC but it does not show up. It only shows up on my iphone.

Looks like a system overload...I got an initial estimate of 1 hour, then 2 hours, then 33 minutes, then download failure error.
Try another time when the system load is lower.
Same here. My first attempt went for about 10-15 minutes before receiving the error. Now I'm getting it immediately upon starting the install. I later tried to update it via iTunes directly but it says that I have the latest software (iOS 6.1.4)
Just tried again and it went 11 minutes, 9 minutes, 8 minutes, then failed.
Not unusual for a major iOS release.
Same here :( i thought i had a prb.
Is this usually the case? Pardon my ignorance but this is the first time I've tried downloading a software update right after the release.

That's why I'm waiting for the weekend... of iOS 7.0.1.
6.0.1 came out about 6 weeks after 6.0, so 7.0.1 will probably be around the same time frame.
I see no reason not to wait to put it on my personal device.
Did you get to "Preparing Update"
We're getting the same error here too. Now it cannot even check to see if an upgrade is available. 😟
