2010 macBook pro 15". Lagging and froze during last update.

Hi guys, 2 months ago I had my hinge replaced under warrenty because of a faulty glue joint. When I got the computer back I noticed a slight grinding in the body while runnung (hard drive?). It got better so I let it go, this morning I performed a software update and it froze during the validation process so I had to power off by holding the power button. I found a past tip that led me to find the folder with the update and I put the content of the folder in the trash. I did an update again and it said I was up to date.

I want to cure my lagging and freezing, need some help! as you can tell by my user name I am better with wood, not computers so please keep your recommendations in "newbie" terms. Thanks for your help!

looking at the entrecheck explanation it says that there should be no 3rd party applications in my problem system launch Daemons, should I be trying to delete that one too? Where wold that one be found?

Since I deleted the Blackberry folders in the root of the hard drive my computer has been running worse than before. It has been freezing frequently. I was able to copy my iPhoto library to my enternal hard drive. At the beginning of the transfer the computer froze so much that it took over 10 minutes to download 350 mb of information (of a total 63 GB) and it estimated over 60 hours to download. I let it go and it finally started again and it took approx 75-80 minutes to download all the pictures. Something is going on and I don't know what! Should I try and do a clean install of OS, i found my original disks.

There's no reason that uninstalling the Blackberry stuff should have hurt anything. A clean install might be the best bet at this point. Let's try one other thing first. Go to System Preferences / Users & Groups. Create a new user with admin rights, the reboot. Log in as the new user and see if things are better.

The Activity Monitor is in Applications / Utilities. Start it up, click the CPU tab at the top, then click on the CPU % heading so that the little triangle points down. That makes it sort in descending order, so that the processes using the most CPU are at the top of the list.

Just start it up and let it run all the time for now. If you hit a slowdown, take a look and see what's using the most CPU.
