iOS 7.1 Personal Hotspot APN settings won't save on iPhone 4

Hello,

I am facing a problem, which would be great to resolve. Since I updated to iOS 7.1 I can't set APN setttings for Personal Hotspot in my iPhone. If I go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Settings, and I set the APNs(for data+mms) and i go back to save the freshly set APN settings then it saves, but if I touch any fields in the "Personal Hotspot" section (even focusing) and I go back the same way any changed value won't save (e.g. I also change data APN). In the menu "Cellular" there is an option for personal tethering where it just keeps loading and after a ehile it becomes an available option, but if I click on it it displays an error message like: "...contact: Carrier". So I tried everything, I reset my network settings, did 3 full restore(via iTunes, in recovery mode and DFU too). Then finally I downgraded to iOS 6.1.2 and guess what, it started working.. Then I thought it repaired some settings bug which burned in my device and I restored 7.1 in DFU. Now it is not working again. I need the help of community since I need hotspot tethering so hard everyday for my job. Thanks in advance!

Same problem here! Updated iPhone 4 16GB to iOS 7.1 and now i can't use a personal hotspot anymore!

Yes. But you need a sim card to use it for cellular and phone.

Are you sure you are talking about APN or are you by any chance talking about Hotspot (which is quite different).

I would hope that as more problems are found that result from the IOS 7.1 update, and as more attention from the press is brought to bear on them, Apple may indeed take steps to update the update!

I'm experiencing the same annoying issue as many many other users in Italy, subscirbers of WIND.

The model is an iPhone 4 32Gb.

If not resolved within a couple of days, this is undubitably going to be my last iPhone!

Hey guyss...i have read all of urs comments n badly this bug is attaking iphones also in italy with the carrier WIND...this is impressive...how apple do not check n try elder phones before realising n OS...we gain in somthing n we lose in others...this cant be supported anymore...plzz guys any solution if there be write on ...n report the problem as much u cam to make feel apple gulty about this unhappy situation of all apple customers...

Same problem: hotspot was working flawlesslessly on both iPhone 4 and iPad 2 until update to iOS 7.1. Now both devices have the same problem: APN cant be saved manually for Personal Hotspot in Mobile Settings.

My service provider (MTNL in Delhi, India) does support this service and I have been using it for ages.

So, Apple: we need a quick patch to resolve this issue.

What I do not understand is that why this problem only seems to affect only older apple devices and not the iPad air or iPhone 5, is this a purposely political move on the part of apple? Nevertheless Apple should please take a stand and make a statement so that we the clients know how to react. We have waited long enough. I posted this issue on my blog so as to direct more poeple to this thread.

Thanks for all of you, who reported and shared their experience and for those who are sharing this thread on their sites and blogs, etc... That's the way we can call the attention of Apple. Keep it doing! ;)

My friend made a ticket about this bug on Apple's helpdesk about 3 days ago and yesterday his ticket status was changed to 'duplicate' which means another same ticket was taken as default one with the same bug, and that ticket is open. So now Apple may knows the bug now and hopefully we don't have to wait a lot for apple to release the fix.

I have an iPhone 5 and the problem of not being able to retain the settings for creating a Hotspot affect me too. Everything worked just fine before IOS 7.1. I certainly agree that Apple should make a statement and more importantly should fix the problem!
