To avoid this becoming any more cyclical of a post, can we just assume this area is for documenting issues and providing the Apple based solution to making the app work, not circumventing the issue by suggesting common sense 3rd party alternatives?
Sorry that you're having issues with your FaceTime..
Also to anyone else reading this..I had an issue yesterday where facetime wasn't working for a customer. I had her update her iphone to 7.1 software and it was able to work over wifi and cellular data. If you're still having issues after the software update, can try to restore the phone using itunes however I would definitely call Apple first and maybe they will get the issue updated.
Ios 7.1 is not an option for me with the iPhone 4 as I want to keep one ios device on 6.1.3 for troubleshooting purposes.
Do itouch 4g users have this same issue? They are maxed out at 6.1.5
Today while at work an apple advisor told a co worker they were aware of people having issues. But I do see that a lot with iOS 6 are complaining of FaceTime issues.
Seemingly & suddenly...we all have the same issue.
No reason? No announcement?
Just 'Not Working' & that's it?
I updated the software on my Mac & 'wah lah'...Facetime is back! :-)
Yes---nothing works not even an attempt to call another MAC in the same house. Apple has big time problems!!! TodR
Yup - having issues too
Interested to see how this one is resolved...
Hello, so as a person who is NOT tech savvy...are you saying I need to upgrade something on my computer to get my Facetime working again? (have not been able to facetime since last Friday) Any help is greatlyappreciated!
Hello Wabrackett,
Here's what I did that got my 'Facetime' to work again...:-)
At the top let corner of your computer screen, see the apple.
Click the apple. The drop down bar will appear, click 'Software Updates'.
A list of items to be updated will appear.
Click Update...& items will begin to update.
Your computer will restart after updates...:-)
Hope it works for you! :-)
I got a fully-owned, contract-free Verizon iPhone 4s running 6.1.3. I had to use a GPP to make the phone work on T-Mobile because Verizon won't unlock my iPhone since I no longer am with them. Even if they unlock it, it would only unlock for international use. Basically, in the U.S. I can only use it on Verizon. Is this a free market economy when you own something and you can't use it? I am not going to upgrade my iPhone so that it becomes and expensive iPod. Apple need to fix this problem ASAP or else they are just another arrogant corporation that put the interests of their customers at the bottom.
two ipad, iOS 6 users here with non-functioning Facetime as well....it worked a week ago.
solution we were offered was to update to iOS 7.
kinda don't want to - just don't like the look or feel.
guess we're out of luck.
hope I'm wrong....
That has worked for some users but not all. I would wait a bit if you don't want to upgrade. I was working fine last Wednesday, today not so much. I'm running iOS 7 as is my brother who I could not reach today. Just tried to FaceTime my husband's phone (he's on iOS 6, and "FaceTime failed"....)
So, I would suggest just wait it out for a bit.
Cheers,
GB
thanks. I wish Apple was more like my cable company, Cox. When they have a problem, it leads their automated tech support phone/online inquiries: "users in Costa Mesa are temporarily not receiving....etc"
At least that makes us believe the company is responding
I don't like the option of upgrading the iOS to get it to work again. As said in a comment above, it was working a couple weeks ago, and there really is no reason it should stop just like that. I'm not a fan of how iOS 7 looks either, which is why I don't want to upgrade.
