I accidentally clicked the "do not show this" option in the delete conformation dialogue box and I didn't want to. Trust me with purchased music I WANT CONFIRMATION EVERY TIME I CLICK DELETE. There seems to be no option in the preferences to turn it back on. Does anyone know how to get this back to the default setting or how I can reset my iTunes to its default without losing my playlists/music etc?

New info:

I tried to delete the iTunes.pref files on my computer but this didn't reset iTunes, or solve the problem.

(do a search in windows to find the files C:/Documents & settings/[user]/local/application data/applecomputer/iTunes/itunes.pref then C:/Documents&Settings/[user]/application data/applecomputer/iTunes/itunes.pref Then send the files to your recycle bin, and restart. iTunes is supposed to give you a set-up dialog on restarting, and all of your previously saved preferences will be lost. I don't think this fix will work for version 7 however.)

When I download I keep files in my C drive in a "for import" folder. When I accumulate a lot of files I divide them up between different external hard-drives (2.5" drives in enclosures w/ USB), ie: spoken word, Music, TV shows, Movies.

The files on my C Drive delete fine in the default folder (as normal, with the delete dialog). Once moved, or on an external HD, they no longer will delete from the drive. Only from iTunes library. Files I imported from external HD's behave the same. This is a new problem, not encountered on older versions of iTunes.

Don't know if this helps. But it doesn't have anything to do w/ iTunes Preference files as far as I can tell.

This didn't always used to be the case did it?

This is a new experience for me, and I've had ipods for over 3 years. Just upgraded to the 80gb video.

As long as the files in my itunes library were associated with the proper drive path (ie: tvshowX to drive L, songY to drive M), they used to delete just fine from both the hard drive and the library list.

Are you saying that this isn't the case?
