I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.1 but the toggle to switch between LTE , 3G and 2G not exist and is described on the update list ?
I updated my iPhone via OTA if that the reason ?

It is looking like Apple has stopped supporting that option. You can turn cellular on or off but you can't drop down to slower networks.
But they put as on the "news" in this update 8.1 🙂
Yes, I also have the same problem. my iphone 6 is ios8.1 and only open 4G why? My location is Saudi Arabia and my operator name is Mobily. Please fix the problem ...
You're correct. It is supposed to be adjusted in 8.1.
Try rebooting your phone and see if the option is available after your phone comes back up. Usually anything cellular related requires a reboot.
Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time. Keep holding until you see the Apple Logo, then let go of both buttons and your phone will restart. You won't lose any data or settings.
Changes are the toggle will appear when your phone backs up.
Apple say:
"New option allows you to select between 2G, 3G or LTE networks for cellular data"
Maybe this option not appear if you update via OTA ?
Did you do as I suggested and reboot your phone?

It may require a carrier update. Another thread that I read stated that. See this support document to see if you have a carrier update available. iOS: Updating your carrier settings
If that option require a Carrier update then I need to wait , but Apple could say it on the changelog
Hi, I´m from the Netherlands and it doesn´t work on any dutch sim card. So I tried a turkish sim card that I used during the holidays and it worked, so it´s indeed the carrier bundle update issue. I already spammed my operator with it..
Just tried using iTunes to restore to 8.1 after OTA update still nothing. But my friend has a iPhone 6 Plus and it works fine. Come on Apple!!
Not all carriers may allow the 2g/3g option. For Example, AT&T is completely shutting down their 2G network, switching off both LTE and 3G would result in no phone service at all (2G/3G does NOT only affect data).
Well thats unfortunate. I hope they don't do that otherwise I won't have any service at my house!!
Btw 2G, 3G is data just like LTE 😉
Im having the same problem. I figured it was an issue from upgrading OTA from a beta version. I've tried everything including restarting and resetting my network settings.
Im on an iPhone 6 using att.
