How to Transfer SMS from iPhone 6 Plus to Mac

I've found an easy solution. As suggested in one of the Quora answer here: https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-save-my-iPhone-text-messages-and-iMessages-witho ut-using-a-computer-or-iCloud I found my SMS/Text Messages backup here: C:\Users\~\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup and then extracted the text messages in a readable format using this free SQLite Database Browser.

Text messages are included in a backup made using iTunes but they are stored in a format intended only for use as part of a complete restore. There are 3rd party programs that can extract them from a backup or one option if you want to transfer and see them more directly is http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/

With iOS 8.1.2 and Yosemite you can also set Messages on your Mac to mirror messages on your iPhone.

We use the decipher text message software at our small law firm since we are required to save (and print out) sms chats with our clients. Meanwhile, I never knew "option key" + go menu would make that hidden library show up!
