How do I charge my Ipod on the PC without syncing?

I had to make a system recovery and lost all my songs. How can I charge the Ipod without making it sync with Itunes?

I also need help on getting the songs on my Ipod back onto Itunes.

Thanks in advance

Hi World B Free!

If you're on a Windows computer, then try this:

1 - Open iTunes.
2 - Get read to watch your iPod, and connect it.
3 - As soon as your iPod displays "Do Not Disconnect", immediately begin to press and hold the "Ctrl" + "Shift" keys for about 20-30 seconds. This should prevnet the auto-syncing from happening to your iPod.

I hope this helps you,

Well, holding the shift and ctrl keys when you connect your iPod keeps iTunes from auto-syncing when you connect it.

After doing the preventitive for iTunes auto-syncing, click on your iPod in the left-source panel. Click on the "Music" tab in the right-display-area of iTunes. Select "Manually manage songs" instead of being on "automatic".

"Also, how do I get the songs on my Ipod back onto Itunes?"

Yamipod may not work for you if you have iTunes version 7 or later although there is an "untested" version.

Check out the instructions/suggestions here.

Music from iPod to computer.

There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.

Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.

Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.

The music files should transfer to your iTunes.

If none of these methods work, try CopyPod which also supports the transfer of videos from iPod to computer.

Try this:

1 - Eject/disconnect your iPod.
2 - Put your iPod into Disk Mode.
3 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
4 - After that, wait for about 15 seconds for your iPod to be recognized by your computer.
5 - Then, go to "Add folder to library" again, and see if you can find your iPod there.
