icloud for windows failing to sync chrome bookmarks

I have tried virtually every conceivable fix i can find but nothing is working.

When i originally installed chrome on my windows PC i also installed the iCloud for Windows app and extension which allowed me to sync my chrome bookmarks to/with my ipad & iphone safari bookmarks.

This worked beautifully until recently. I had been able to add or delete bookmarks from either pc, iphone or ipad and each would replicated any changes made.

This all failed to work recently.

I have logged out of icloud, and chrome, reinstalled icloud for windows, deleted all bookmarks from all devices and restored a copy to chrome. i can currently create and delete bookmarks on either my iphone/ipad and each replicate the other perfectly, albeit with a few minutes lag time. However, my biggest problem, is that chrome is not syncing with the devices. no newly created/deleted bookmark on chrome/safari will replicate on the other.

I am running win 10 with the latest chrome and icloud for windows. I am running iphone6 and ipad2 with latest versions of iOS on them.

Please help as i rely heavily on having my bookmarks synced across all devices. Not sure why it worked perfectly until recently.

I had the same issue and finally I solved this after I installed 6.1.2.13 version of icloud on my laptop(Win 10 home).

Here is the link where I downloaded the program.

Mine did not work with 6.2.2.39 version of icloud. The laptop got the bookmarks from iphone but iphone didn`t. That was why I decided to download lower version.

It stopped working for me too when I updated iCloud. I didn't need to uninstall iCloud and revert to an earlier version on my WIndows 10 machine.

This is what worked for me.

1. Logout from iCloud (it forces removal of the iCloud extensions from Chrome and Firefox and all the synced data and bookmarks, which is fine).

2. Reboot.

3. Login to iCloud, and select sync bookmarks with Chrome (re-installs the Chrome iCloud extension).

4. It starts syncing.

Note, I did not enable sync with Firefox this time in iCloud. Not sure if that made a difference.

Good luck!

Thanks, Thrasher91604. I thought I'd tried every combination of do-overs with this problem but the reboot before logging back in seems to have been the key here. In every other variant I tried I think I had Chrome running before I logged back in to iCloud and it never worked. This method seems to have solved it.

(Of course this being an "Apple software on Windows" issue, I expect it'll reoccur as soon as the wind blows in the wrong direction. Still, it's working for now and I know what to try if it breaks!)

I just installed the latest iCloud 7.1 for Windows on my parents PC. And I encounter the exact same issues. Safari bookmarks/reading list do get synched between 2 iPhone 5C's and 1 iPad 2 perfectly. But... on the PC (Windows 7) it does not work in Chrome. Yes, the Chrome extension is installed, but it does not work

God... how bugged IS this software?! Yes... I am frustrated, because next to this bug, I experience an even more severe flaw in this system: Wasting Disk Space

On iOS iCloud works really well... but on Windows.... it's plagued with severe obvious bugs that apparently do not get much attention/love from Apple.

Same issue here. I tried to use Firefox as an alternative, and that's broken too (albeit in a slightly different way; iCloud for Windows doesn't seem to detect that the Firefox add-on is installed, so never saves the setting to sync bookmarks).

That this software simply breaks and doesn't get fixed tells me we're edge cases for Apple. I'm stuck using PCs for work, so I suspect, for me, this road ends with giving up on my iPhone (and Apple) altogether.

Hi, After following all the other tips I tried yours on my windows pc and also turned off safari and deleted the bookmarks on my ipad but when I turned safari back on when the bookmarks appeared again they were the same old ones from when it stopped syncing in November and not the current ones on my pc. Any other ideas please? I don't know why icloud or safari haven't sorted this out as its clearly a problem for many people.
