iPhone Xs Max poor cell phone reception fix?

It's not a Verizon issue. It is not a carrier issue. People are having the same issues with ALL carriers. I've been working with several senior advisors and have been on the phone almost constantly with Apple Support. No one knows what the "fix" is. My personal feeling is that it is an antenna issue.....either it's a bad antenna, or the software for the antenna......all I know is APPLE NEEDS TO FIX IT!!!!!

I got a new one too...out of the box....which was NOT restored from a backup, but set up as a new phone. I STILL have poor cell signal, dropped calls, texts not arriving.....my 8+ had better reception than this phone. My husband still has his, and it's very obvious the issue is with my phone, probably the antenna.

Lol they might not be having enough sims because apple told them keep the customers waiting until we find a solution its annoying and it feel like some body ripped my clothes off and telling me to stay like that

The problem is apple is not responding on this thing and it feels like its a serious issue thats why nobody from apple has yet responded they might respond if its shown on a bigger platform like youtubes or someone

It's been written up in major tech (and non-tech) media, including The Verge, BusinessInsider, and ZDnet.

But having said that, it would still be helpful for people to report this issue to Apple Support, to add more data that might help pinpoint what is going wrong.

After many hoops I had a schedule at the apple store in Jackson,Ms. They evaluated my phone looked up my att case number and realized it was my antenna that was bad. They gave me a new xs max. It’s 10x better.

When did you receive your new iphone xs max ? If its just 2 to 5 days then please wait for 6 to 10 days and keep us update i hope so your issue has been resolved because most of the people who got replacements still having the same issue

This is a user to user forum; in general Apple does not respond here.

Having the same issue, went to called Att phone support and had me reset network settings, they did something on their end to boost reception, asked me to go to Att store to have sim replaced. Replaced sim and had 4 bars for an entire 30 seconds.. Told me to go to Apple, Apple asked me to factory reset phone and it should be fixed and NOTHING!!! And now that I tried asking my wife to take in the phone and drop it off for them to look at it without a rush she is told they don't do that... Which now brings me to my new watch (series 4).. Been wearing it since 8am and it is now 1:50p and it is at 27% of battery left......... mind you I sit at work all day

I had the same issue. Went to Verizon (got $130 credit for my issues). Went to apple, got a new phone, didn't work. Went to get a new sim (they were all out because of this issue). It's a phone issue not carrier. Apple needs to address this and I hope 12.1 will fix this. PS I have the iPhone XS, happening to me too.

Bars/mbps numbers mean nothing. I’ve tested 6 iPhone X’s and x and 8, 8+ and I’m getting triple mbps on the XS but very poor strength. In other words, 6 mbps is equivalent to 200 mbps on LTE...... my x shows 30-35 on the down and loads everything fine, XS, 125 on the down, won’t load anything and gets warm. Shuts down. X, 8, and 8+ are stable. XS, scores triple the speed yet fails.

I upgraded from my iPhoneSE (I like smaller phones.) The iPhone XS never gets more than 2 bars. I'm with AT&T and in the same locations (home, work) I have horrible service. I also have the wi-fi call ability and that doesn't fare any better. If they new about the problem, they should have recalled them.

Same issue here with wifi.

I went to Apple today after testing at home with them a number of times. I have done clean sweeps of the phone and it was always an intermittent issue. Today they swapped out my iPhone Xs for another one. I came home and experienced the exact same issue with poor wifi connection. Seems to only be in areas where wifi signal is weaker but when I try with an iPhone 6S, 8 and iPads there is no issue.

No clue what to do here. To me it’s quite obvious this is a hardware issue.

Using it on all devices. Only the iPhone Xs has any issues.

Seems it only happens in an area where the wifi signal would be weaker within the house. I can grab any other device and have no issues at exact same time and same placement.

Not at all; I see the same WiFi speed on all the phones at my local Apple Store, and everyone I personally deal with who had issues with iOS 12.0 saw their WiFi issues fixed in 12.0.1.

Some still have cellular issues but that seems to be on a carrier by carrier and location by location basis.
