an error occurred while updating or installing macOS
It says "The request timed out"...
I tried it several times and I shut down and restarted my computer.
Still doesn't work.

Are you using an antivirus?
A VPN?
If you do disable and try again.
Next try rebooting your router and modem.
Apple is not reporting any problems
