Add to playlist "recents" function has gone rogue

Have an iPhone 13, using iOS 17.3.1. I'm a heavy playlist user and have loved the addition of the "Recents" at the top of the playlist list when wanting to add a song to a playlist. Most recently, however, the three selections in the Recents category seem totally random. For example, I have a "2024" playlist that I add songs to multiple times a day and it simply will not show up in Recents anymore. Have tried restarting my phone to no avail. Hardly life or death stuff here, but what was a tremendous idea has now turned to *****. Any thoughts on a fix for this? Thank you.
