10.4 battery drain excessive series 9 watch after update

This has been a huge problem for me. I've removed apps, done everything I can think to do and my Series 9 watch w 10.4 update STILL drains within hours! I've tried to Power Off (and that wasn't easy!) and still have an issue. PLUS my watch seems to get awfully hot for some reason at times. Does anyone have any idea how this can be resolved or if it's a known issue?

so i figured out what to do. you have to hard reset your watch by holding the power off and crown down simultaneously til it shuts off and then re-pair it with your phone thru the watch app. that fixed mine!

I charged my series 9 to 100% this morning around 10:00. It’s now 19:30 and it’s at 3%.

Same problem, battery dies in the middle of my lovely early-afternoon Alpine hikes after a full morning charge. And I updated to 10.4 to fix the bug that caused my watch to completely freak out/be possessed. So Apple's batting 1.000 for me at the moment :(

After the most recent update, my Apple Watch (7) battery started to drain rapidly and would t hold a charge through one day. Thinking it was the watch, I bought the 9 series and am experiencing the same thing. My husband has not updated his Watch 9 series and his battery lasts 2-3/charge.

Apple meeds to fix this. It’s unreasonable to spend this much on a watch that cant even last one day. I get home from work and have to charge it before working out so I can use the fitness tracking apps.

Ive been diligent about closing apps throughout the day, but theres been no improvement—- and I didnt close any apps before the update and my battery lasted.

I was having the same issue and I unpaired and then synced it back with my phone. It worked.

Try restarting your Watch.

Either a reset or turn off/on again...

Often this helps after updates.

That said, it often takes 1-2 days for the Watch to settle after an update.

Try powering off, resyncing...seems to have worked for me...been 12 hours and still at 75%, which is a VAST improvement over what had been happening!

mine has been doing the same thing, actually. i plugged it in last night and around 9pm it was fully charged and i put it on before i went to bed. from 100% at 9pm, its at 42% at 4am. literally from the last hour ive been i awake laying here it’s went down to 38%

My son just started using my old watch (after the battery issue forced me to buy a new watch) and he is still experiencing the battery drain.

It has to have something to do with the update. Can we uninstall the update?

If you unpair your watch then repair it, you should see your battery life return to acceptable levels.

I tried unpairing and repairing...seemed to work better for a day or two but it's now back to draining fast.

Will Apple accept returns due to this? Im thinking of switching to Garmin so I dont have these issues and get better location accuracy with runs.
