Son lost Apple ID password and broke phone, what happens to subscriptions? He has a new Apple ID now but couldn’t transfer anything over.

My son broke his phone and lost the Apple ID password. He went to the Apple Store and they set him up with a new Apple ID on a brand new phone. They couldn’t transfer anything over since he his phone was broken and he didn’t know his password to his Apple ID. What happens to the subscriptions he had on his other Apple ID? Will he still be charged? The ID is still active, but just can’t use it. Specifically he is wondering about Spotify. He normally logged in with the old Apple ID…which he used that iCloud email for his subscription. He can’t obviously get in now or reset the password.

Honestly, he should have done password recovery rather than create a new Apple ID. Yes, he will continue to charged for any subscriptions tied to that account. In some cases, he may still be able to log into things from the new account. However, problems will start to happen if he needs to change or cancel a subscription or if the payment method tied to it expires.

He can go through password recovery now:
