subtitles not syncing

I'm watching Apple tv on my LG smart TV. I'm using the BFI Player add on. The subtitles on some (not all) foreign language films are several seconds out of sync with the sound/video. This seems to get worse through the duration of a long movie (eg 5 hours of Fanny and Alexander - fine at the start but 5 seconds out by the 3 hour mark!). Is there a fix?

Is BFI Player here an in-app channel of the Apple TV app, in your country?

For iTunes Store purchases of movies, or in-app channel subscription services that don’t work as they should, contact the Apple Media Services staff. For either service, Apple may need to request a new better upload from the supplying content provider, so solutions might take some time.
