Purging space disk utility OS Sonoma?
How exactly can I purge the data that shows up in Apple disk utility for the iMac HD and external HDs?
I just ran the update because I only run necessary updates. Any answer will help.
If you are referring to "Purgeable" space reported in Get Info and Disk Utility, macOS purges it when necessary. Purgeable space is not necessarily unneeded. Large amounts tend to be tied to local snapshots created by Time Machine. You can delete those from within Disk Utility or via the command line.
It can also be files that are stored in iCloud and thus can be restored when needed.
