MacOS Notes App, Cursor jumps back when typing fast.

I'm really sick of this problem. It's been going on for over a year. This is an obvious problem with the Notes app that hasn't been resolved in over a year. During this time, the app developers have developed many new useless features, and they don't want to solve this really big problem!

I am having the same issue, but it only seems to happen when I'm typing into tables. Normal notes seem to be fine. The issue happens on my Mac M1 Max using Ventura 13.4.1 and also on my iPad mini 6th gen using iPadOS 16.6.

This has been happening to be for several months. Maybe even a year. It happens on both mobile and MacBook. It's sporadic but when it happens I can't even type 1 word and the cursor bounces back 3-4 spaces. This happens when I use tables. In a normal note/list it functions correctly.

I am having the same issue. It only seems to happen in the tables in Notes and only when my note starts to get kinda long. I really like Apple Notes and don't want to have to switch to a 3rd party app.

Hey Apple, can you please give the Notes App some TLC and fix this bug?

Under Keyboard, Text Input, Input Sources, turn off some or all of Correct Spelling Automatically, Capitalise Words Automatically, Show Inline predictive text, Add full stop etc.

as of Apr 20, 2024, this is still happening. On my M2 Mac Pro on Sonoma 14.4.1, most updated.

It makes no sense that this has been occurring for this long. I have to type like a garden snail in order for it not to occur.

this problem still exists - on iPhone same as Mac. I'm using an iCloud based note and I have inserted a table. The cursor keeps on moving backwards unless I type really really slow. Please fix the bug

I have the same exact problem across all my devices when using tables in notes.

I completely support the additional comment about the "length" of the table in Notes. The table I am working with has about 100 rows and the problem is terrible. Another table I started recently the issue, now that you mention it, did start after the table was >20 or so rows. UGH!

Same is happening to me while typing into tables in the Notes app. I haven't tried replicating it on my iPad. As others have mentioned, it's not happening in Pages or other Text based apps.

Happens only when typing into tables as others have pointed, but it happens in every platform I've tested (Mac, iPhone, iPad).

Mean it has nothing to do with input devices, rather the app is broken.

Hello, Seems this is not a good solution and does not solve the 'real' problem. You have suggested to turn off all of the features that make a modern smart phone or smart device "smart". I agree, it solves your problem, but not the real issue that Apple needs to address.

The real issue a "an across device latency issue". Meaning if you close the app, in this case Notes on all of the device using the same iCloud account and open the app, Notes, on a single device the problem is gone until the app is opened on a 2nd or 3rd or 4th device. As more devices open the app the problem gets worse.

Apple really needs to pay attention to this issue and solve it.

Band-aid fixes such as the one you suggested are great for the short-term, but not a long-term solution.

And Notes is not the only app affected. My 2 cents, it's an iCloud sync issue. Similar to the native mail app not syncing flagged mail, some read/unread mail, etc. Or Numbers not having the updated formulas and values on all devices at the same time. Ugh Apple. Solve it. Please.

Apple Support: If you are reading this thread please be aware, NONE of these so called fixes are a) practical b) last for any period of time c) affect all devices under the same AppleID.

This really needs to be closed examined by the programmers. The community cannot fix an error in the algorithm.
