Weather and Calendar watch widgets disappearing

My old Apple watch SE (first gen) face got seriously damaged so I replaced it yesterday. However, the weather and calendar apps on the new watch are constantly malfunctioning. When I opened the watch app on my iphone to fix it, the weather and calendar widgets were missing entirely from the list. Later, the app reappeared, only to disappear again later. I've restarted the devices a few times and that has not fixed the bug. Also, when the weather app returns, it asks if it can use my location. I've authorized it 5-7 times now but the setting won't stick. I've tried to enable location services from the settings menu but that doesn't seem to do the trick either.

If anybody has a fix I'd love to hear it. Extremely frustrating that Apple apps are failing on a brand new device.
