Are these adobe files safe to delete?

I have deleted adobe reader from my mac, nor do I have any other apps related to adobe. Its annoying that the clean up too doesn't remove the left over files. While I was cleaning up the remaining files, I found these in /private/var/db/receipts

I also found these

Which are located here

Are these files safe to delete? Any help would be appreciated thank you!

Are these files safe to delete? Any help would be appreciated thank you!

Are there specific files causing the computer to malfunction or act strangely ?

My guess would be not.

There maybe a lot of " left-over " files after an application is removed.

One could spend many hours hunting down and looking for every left- over files.

If you want to delete them and be safe about it.

Drag the files to a safe place Outside of your User Library

Restart the computer and run it normally say for half a day

If moving the the files does not have negative effect on the computer

Move them to Trash ( Bin ) and empty the Trash ( Bin )

PRP gives good advice on this. I would not touch those files.

Anything in private/var is meant to not be disturbed by the user. They are not active but instead provide a history of what was installed. You can probably delete them but it will require changing permissions and some other invasive steps and unless the folders are restored as they were, there could be trouble that results. There is no need to take risks.

The files you found in PrivateFrameworks also need not be touched. They have information about fonts associated with the Adobe software that you removed. So there is nothing negative that will result from leaving them as they are. Again, you can get access to delete them but it might require changes to permissions and that could entail risks unless you know exactly how you are proceeding.

I think if you actually do delete those files nothing bad will result. After all, they are from an uninstalled program. But if you adopt the philosophy of "first do no harm," I would just leave them where they are. They are taking virtually no disk space.
