Finding the charging case without the airpods in it

I see support claims you can find the case without the pods in it for devices 2nd gen pro and onward. Screenshot attached, but this doesn't work.

I called support but they didn't tell me anything I didn't know, which is, check in 'find my'. The problem is I can't see the charging case in the find my app. Can someone assist with this asap please?
