Advice on Mid 2012 mac pro + SAPPHIRE Radeon PULSE RX 580 8GB GDDR5?

I have a Mid 2012 Mac Pro and about to buy two SAPPHIRE Radeon PULSE RX 580 8GB GDDR5 for it. The purpose is so that I can upgrade from High Sierra to Mojave.

I was wondering if there was anything I should watch out for.

From my research, it should be a simple plug-and-play situation but I do keep finding mention of cases were the boot screen (white screen with apple logo & progress bar) fails to appear. I was wondering if…

  • If this is a minority occurrence
  • if this is a consistant occurrence in 100% of people using this graphics card
  • If I will 100% need to ‘flash’ my RX 580
  • If after flashing it, it will return to the boot screen with logo & progress bar

Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks you all !

that card should be 'ready to go' in MacOS 10.12 and later. You will need a substantial power harness for Aux power that combines the two 6-pin Mac Aux power connectors in to one six and one eight for use at the card. Try to get one with many wires and few jumpers for best results.
