canon ts9500 not offering airprint as a choice in setup for macbook air

My canon ts9520 stopped connecting to my macbook air over wifi. somehow i managed to get it going briefly. then i tried to scan and again computer and printer were not speaking to one another. then i removed the printer from the list of printers (this is the only one) and when readding it, there's no airprint under USE.
