If the songs are all together (adjacent) and there are no other songs in the group:

    1. select the first song (single click on it)
    2. hold down the SHIFT key and select the last song
    3. all the songs will be highlighted in blue (which means they are all selected)

To select songs that are not next to each other (not adjacent):

    1. select the first song (single click on it)
    2. hold down the CTRL key and keep it held down until you have selected all the songs that you want
    3. select the second song that you want
    4. select the third song etc. until you have selected all the ones that you want
    5. when you have selected all the songs that you want, you can release the CTRL key, BUT you must now tap the File/Convert/Create MP3 version. If you tap any other key (such as another song) you will deselect the tracks you had previously selected

Yes.

To be precise, if you select several songs and choose "Convert/Create MP3 version" it will do each conversion separately (or one at a time), but you can start the batch and then leave iTunes to get on with it.

However, I recommend that you limit the number of songs that you put into a batch at any one time, in order to avoid overworking your computer and so that you can more easily check that nothing went wrong during the process. For example, no more than ten or perhaps fifteen.

By the way, in case you did not know, the "conversion" is actually a creation, not conversion. You will end up with two copies of each song:

  • the original AAC version
  • the new MP3 version
