Here's some things you can try. Try each step until, hopefully, the issue is resolved:

  • Access the Find My app on your iPhone. Select this AirTag from the Items tab. Press Play Sound. Then press Stop Sound. Try playing the sound again.
  • Be sure that the battery tab was fully removed.
  • Take the battery out, and then, put it back in.
  • Clean the tag. Take it apart again, then grab a microfiber cloth and an anti-static brush. A brand new, unused toothbrush will suffice if you don’t have an anti-static brush available.
  • On your iPhone, turn Bluetooth off, and back on again.
  • On your iPhone, verify that Location Services is enabled.
  • Verify that your Apple ID is enabled with two-factor authentication.
  • Change the tag's battery.

If none of the above resolves this issue, you will need to contact Apple Support directly for further assistance. To do so, simply select the "Support" link on the lower left-hand side of this forum's web page.
