AirPod Pro won’t connect to Samsung TV

I have tried to pair my AirPod Pros to my Samsung tv. I easily paired a previous generation of AirPods to this tv with no problems. This is what I have tried-

I deleted the old AirPods from the Bluetooth list on Samsung.

i reset the Samsung TV and the AirPod Pro, then

• I held down the button on the back of the AirPod case so that they went into pairing mode
• I searched for Bluetooth speakers and found my AirPod Pros listed on the Samsung TV
• I clicked on Pair and Connect

The TV screen pauses for a while, and then I get the prompt: "Connection Unsuccessful

• Unable to connect to AirPods Pro. Make sure the device is turned on"

Obviously the device is turned on and in pair mode because the TV has “found” the newer AirPods Pro. But it refuses to pair. Someone help!
