my airpods were stolen but a few days later I got a notification saying AirPods detected moving with you

I got my AirPods stolen while travelling in a FlixBus. I tried to find them using find my but was unsuccessful. After 6 days, I was returning after my vacation using the same bus. I noticed it had the same driver. When the bus reached the stop the AirPods were stolen at, I got a notification saying “AirPods detected moving with you for a while” Is it possible that the bus driver stole my AirPods?

That is really far sighted. It just can be that someone has AirPods that where sitting next to you in the bus and that you get that notification

When I am at my parents house sometimes my dad will get the notification when I have my AirPods (that where never paired to his Apple ID, I bought them new in the Apple Store) in my pocket
