HomePod mini audio cuts out when playing from MacBook

I love the quality of sound from my HomePod Mini. There are no problems whatsoever when playing audio from my iPhone 14 Pro Max or my iPad. But when I play audio from my MacBook Air, no matter what source (Music, YouTube or the web), the audio is always cutting out. Not just occasionally, but frequently, to the point of being really frustrating. I decided the problem was not with the HomePod because it always works fine with other devices. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
