Notifications not showing on iPhone 13 when asleep

Hi everyone. I’m not very tech savvy. But I do see that my problem is pretty widespread. At least it was two years ago. Has there been a fix for not getting notifications on your phone when it’s asleep? Help would be much appreciated.
