why wont my new ipad mini connect to my printer when it is an exact replacement model for the one ive just replaced.

I have a new iPad mini 6th generation replacing the exact same model I had until last week. When I try to print it recognises my brother printer but then drops the printer as if it can’t connect for some reason. Why would it do this? I had my other excavator same iPad printing perfectly by WiFi before I replaced it.
