Unable to download from Mac App Store on Mojave

I have a number of apps that need to be updated, as well as those that I wish to re-download. The same thing happens for both when I try to download them from the Mac App Store. The spinner starts, but never seems to start the download:

I am running the latest version of Mojave (10.14.6 (18G8022)) on an iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013). This has been going on for about a week now. I cannot update anything, nor can I re-download something that had previously removed. I am also unable to get anything new.

It's very frustrating.

I have tried to log out and back in to the App Store, as well as my iCloud account. I have tried repairing the boot drive. Not sure where to go now.

Help!

I found the solution in another thread, here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252482377?answerId=254702634022#254702634022

  1. Launch the Mac App Store.
  2. Launch Activity Monitor.
  3. Kill all instances of appstoreagent that are listed in Activity Monitor.
  4. Try updating/downloading the app in question.

I hope that this will help others until such time as the problem is resolved by Apple.
