I'm trying to install a new software update but my macbook doesn't recognize my password. I type my password and I'm 100% sure it's correct but for some reason it doesn't accept it. Another strange behavior I noticed is that afterwards I need to close the window and reopen it otherwise it doesn't respond

Are you logged into your admin/user account...
Log out of your account and back in, and try again your "update"...
I'm having the same problem with my MacBook Pro not accepting my password for updates. I've restarted it many times (it accepts the password to open the computer) but it doesn't recognize that same exact password when I try to install updates. How can this be fixed?
