This seems to be happening or I don't understand the feature.
I interpret I would have to move/delete the email from my local MacOS mail inbox for the copy on the server to be deleted.
I am configured for POP.

We can neither see nor touch your computer in this forum setting, so can only effectively help when we have equipment details from you. Otherwise you get a bunch of generalities that may not be appropriate to your device or its operating system version.
Also your equipment line says "MacBook Pro (2021)", a portable computer, but this forum is for a limited edition iMac desktop model Made between 2017 and 2021. So that is a bit confusing.
