Shared albums are not available for this device.

I have a 2020 M1 Macbook Air running Mac OS Sonoma 14.3.1. I recently was invited to subscribe to a shared album but when I try to subscribe I get the error message "Shared albums are not available for this device." I am subscribed to multiple other shared albums so I'm not sure why this would be the case now. This problem seems to have been around for a while with no solutions that I can find. Wondering if anyone has come up with anything.

You mention being subscribed to many other shared albums. Could you be running into the limit of 200 mentioned in Shared Album limits - Apple Support? Seems like a poor way to phrase the error message if that's the problem.

I am only subscribed to 7 other shared albums

Update: was able to resolve the issue by simply opening the email in Safari instead of Chrome
