was working on pages and typing trying to change font size after highlighting suddenly was frozen
and cannot do anything at all, but I can navigate in any other apps, I am using IMAC, any thoughts

iMac, macOS 10.13
What operating system? What version of Pages? Local, Cloud, or mounted filesystem as document location. Don't be running any anti-virus applications that can interfere with normal Pages behavior.
If you had to force quit Pages, then press the shift key while relaunching it to prevent it from loading its last execution save state.
