Connecting Sandisk SSD 1TB to iMac

Hey, so I've been trying to connect my external SSD to my iMac.

For some reason it's not showing up on disk utility or anywhere. My iMac is just not reading it at all. When I tried to look up solutions I've seen things saying that its either my connection or its just not supported by Mac.

Here's the thing though- I have a MacBook Pro and I can connect it to that with no problem. I've already done an SMC on my iMac and it still didn't show up. Really hoping someone can help me figure this out why it would connect to my MacBook, but not my iMac.

You have provided no useful info to us such as the model year of the iMac, version of Mac OS installed, how the SSD is formatted, what type of cable connection you are using. Without these vital clues we can't really help you. However the first thing I'd recommend is shutting down the iMac, connect the external SSD using a new cable and then fire up the iMac, open Disk Utility and see if the SSD appears.

BTW, do you have any of the following third party apps installed on your Mac?

·      Antivirus Apps

·      Cleaning Apps

·      Security Apps

·      VPN Apps

·      Maintenance Apps
