Removing Apple Studio Display Stand

I have a 1 year old Apple Studio Display and tilt stand. I need to remove the stand permanently. I understand that it can’t be removed without having a service center disassemble the monitor. I do not have access to this in the country I am currently in. My question is, if I were to take a hacksaw and cut the stand off at the attachment point is there any reason why the monitor would not operate as usual?
