Removed stolen iphone from icloud?

My iphone was stolen, I immediately put it on lost mode and remotely erased it. A week has passed since then and 3 days ago my iphone appears offline and I can't get its location. I felt unrest knowing that my account is still linked to it so I decided to remove it from my icloud, but at doing it, it mention something of a 30 day grace period? Is my account still linked to it for another 30 days or that just applies to the find my?
