Scanning documents with iPad Air 5th gen ipadOS 17.4.1
In Notes, there is no button, icon etc for the Camera. The only way I can get my docs onto the iPad is to scan with the iPhone and then send by email.

Can you scan your documents into Photos then transfer them into Notes?
Edit, I just checked, you can take a a photo of the document then transfer it directly from the photo you just took.
Tap the minimized photo in the lower left corner.
Then tap the share icon in the upper right corner and select Notes.
Replying to my own question I found the answer on YouTube. A long press on the Notes app opens up the scan option . Problem solved.
