Where is DVD Player on Ventura?

I attached an external DVD burner to my iMac, inserted a disc and in seconds DVD Player launched and started playing it.

However, there is no sign of DVD Player in my Applications folder.

Where is it located?

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 13.6

I think it is an image thing (pure speculation on my part).

Apple has left physical discs behind for a long time.

Keeping an application called DVD Player in the Applications folder would look dated.

On the other hand, removing it altogether would raise protests.

Since most people (most of the very few that use DVD discs in current Macs, that is) would never call DVD Player anyway, everything just works as before: you insert a video DVD and DVD Player takes care of it.

I bet that most people either don't care or never noticed that DVD Player is now "hidden away".

It is in a location that is NOT very obvious.

I am away from my mac at the moment but you can find it rather easily. Press Command-space to open Spotlight, and type DVD Player

With DVD Player selected, press Command-R to open it in its folder location.

I guess it may be in

/System/Library/CoreServices

like Finder is, but I could be wrong.

Isn't that where the Create Disc application used to live? I'm seeing it there any more.

No, the Create Disc application is embedded inside Final Cut Pro itself.

It is in

/Applications/Final Cut Pro.app/Contents/PlugIns/Compressor/CompressorKit.bundle/Contents/EmbeddedApps/Create Disc.app/
