A quicker look at retail installer discs

If you were just looking for what the retail installer discs looked like, I have taken the information from this tip to help out:

Can I download my Mac OS upgrade?

Mac OS 8.JPG Mac OS 8.0 & 8.1 (see fine print)

8.5.JPG Mac OS 8.5 and 8.5.1

8.6.JPG Mac OS 8.6

Mac OS 9.JPG.  Mac OS 9.0. 9.0.2, 9.0.4, 9.1, and 9.2.1

puma.jpg Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah and 10.1 Puma

jaguar.jpg Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar

panther.jpg Mac OS X 10.3 Panther

tiger.jpg Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger

leopard.jpgMac OS X 10.5 Leopard

Snow.JPG Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Some of these disks that have the same label may say Update, Dropin, or OEM on them, and should not be confused for the retail versions.

Intermediate releases may have had the same label can be used on Macs that shipped with an older version of the same operating system.  The one exception is that Tiger could not be installed from retail 10.4 installer discs on Intel Macs, even though 10.4.6 retail existed, and 10.4.4 Intel system specifics discs existed.
